Verdict: Rickey Bates has been found guilty of first-degree murder.

Rickey Bates has been found guilty of first-degree murder, first-degree robbery and two counts of armed criminal action.

 

On March 4, 2011, Rickey Bates shot A.S. in the head and took U.S. currency from him in the Walnut Park West neighborhood. After he took the currency, Bates returned to A.S. and fired more shots. A.S. died from multiple gunshot wounds to the head.

 

Today, a St. Louis jury convicted Bates of first-degree murder, first-degree robbery and two counts of armed criminal action. Sentencing is set in the case for March 6, 2014 in front of St. Louis Circuit Court Judge Margaret M. Neill.
