Jury finds man guilty of forcing entry to home, robbing family
June 16, 2014

He broke into a home, ransacked it, and terrorized an entire family.

Now, a jury has found James Willie Brown guilty on multiple felony counts.

In November 2012, Brown and another man forced their way into a home in the 4500 block of San Francisco in the Penrose neighborhood. The three children inside were held at gunpoint, as Brown forced their mother to collect all her valuables, including a laptop, an Xbox, and jewelry. When the woman’s husband came home, Brown robbed him, too. Then, Brown ordered them all to the basement, where the family managed to escape.

Brown’s words during the ordeal: “This ain’t a game, we serious.”

Assistant Circuit Attorney Mary Pat Benninger tried the case and a jury unanimously found Brown guilty on several counts including robbery, armed criminal action, and endangering the welfare of a child.

Brown has multiple prior convictions.

He is scheduled to be sentenced in front of Judge Thomas J. Frawley on July 17, 2014.

Brown could face up to life in prison.
