March 31, 2015

Language from Probable Cause Statement: The victim was a passenger on the MetroLink seated in the front of the train. As the train was travelling eastbound, the defendant and others approached the victim from the rear of the train. One of the individuals requested to use the victim’s phone and since the victim did not know the individual, he declined to provide his phone.  A short time later, the victim was struck multiple times by one of the individuals wearing a red shirt. As the victim was being punched by the indivdual in the red shirt, this defendant punched the victim once in the head with his left fist. This attack was captured on video from MetroLink and others on the train.  The police department received information from the community that led to the identification of the defendant.
