Circuit Attorney’s Office Begins Investigation into Shooting Involving Police Officer

 

The St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office (CAO) has launched its investigation into the shooting of a suspect by a St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department (SLMPD) officer in the Central West End on Thursday afternoon, March 31st

 

Circuit Attorney Jennifer Joyce announced the separate independent investigation will be conducted at the same time as the police investigation into the incident.  Conducting a parallel investigation is now a standard practice of the office when officer-involved shootings occur. 

 

Circuit Attorney investigators and prosecutors were on the scene and at police headquarters Thursday afternoon as the inquiry got underway. 

 

Under the protocol of the Force Investigative Unit (FIU) of the SLMPD, the Circuit Attorney reviews officer-involved shootings within the City of St. Louis.
