Man gets life sentence for murder of teen shot while on FaceTime with his mother

First Alert 4 – A life sentence has been handed down to a man following a 2022 fatal shooting in St. Louis’ Ville Neighborhood.
Jonathon Jones, 21, was sentenced to life in prison for the second-degree murder of Jadun Byrd, 19.
Byrd died after being shot multiple times on March 2, 2022, in the 2400 block of Whittier.
Investigators said Byrd had taken a Lyft to meet his mother at work and was on FaceTime with her at the time of the shooting. She reportedly heard the gunshots and watched her son fall to the ground during the call.
