Fox 2 News – A St. Louis County man was sentenced Thursday after reaching a plea agreement for shooting his girlfriend and later attacking a jail guard in 2022.

James B. Brison, 44, was set to face trial in both cases next week.

Brison pleaded guilty to first-degree domestic assault, armed criminal action, unlawful gun possession, and possession of a controlled substance in the shooting case. He also pleaded guilty to first-degree assault, armed criminal action, and delivery or possession of a weapon at a jail for the guard attack.



Brison admitted shooting his girlfriend in January 2022 during an argument inside a car near Halls Ferry Circle. Prosecutors said Brison threatened to kill the woman. She opened the passenger door to escape and Brison shot her as she jumped from the car.
