First Alert 4 – A man has been sentenced to 27 years in prison after pleading guilty to multiple charges in relation to the death of 25-year-old Deandre Pickens in January 2025.

According to court documents, Jvonta Johnson, 25, was sentenced to 27 years in prison on Tuesday after pleading guilty to second-degree murder, first-degree robbery and unlawful possession of a firearm.

According to court documents, on January 15, 2025, officers responded to a shooting near the North Grand Boulevard and Natural Bridge Avenue. Officers found Pickens at the scene, having been shot. Pickens later died.



Court records say that surveillance video from the area showed Johnson waiting in the backseat of Pickens’ Nissan as two co-defendants approached the car. One of the people reached through the passenger window while the other stood at the driver’s side.
