KSDK – A St. Louis man will spend more than 25 years in prison for his role in the shooting death of a man in 2025.

JVonta Johnson was sentenced to 27 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to second-degree murder, first-degree robbery, and unlawful possession of a weapon in the death of Deandre Pickens.

According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, officers responded just after 1 p.m. on Jan. 15, 2025, to the shooting on the 3500 block of Harper Street. There, they found Pickens lying on the ground with gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
