Mother says son was released from jail prior to deputy shooting

Fox 2 News – A 19-year-old shot by a St. Louis sheriff's deputy has a troubled history, including an earlier arrest for a shooting.
That's according to the suspect's own mother, who told FOX 2 News that her son should still be in custody on another case.
"He shouldn't have been back on the streets from the last incident," Brandy Smith said. "I don't feel like he learned his lesson at all. And now look where we are."
Smith saw it on the news: an alleged car thief was shot. She said it was her son, who she's desperately tried to help.
