ST. LOUIS, MO (May 21, 2026) — Glenn Bailey, 48, was sentenced Thursday to 15 years in prison after pleading guilty to voluntary manslaughter for his role in the fatal shooting of Amarnath Ghosh on February 27, 2024, in the City’s Academy neighborhood.
On February 27, 2024, officers responded to the area of Delmar Boulevard and Clarendon Avenue and found Ghosh deceased near an intersection after he sustained multiple gunshot wounds. During the investigation, detectives reviewed surveillance footage and determined that Bailey’s vehicle traveled to the intersection immediately before the shooting.
Bailey later admitted to investigators that he drove the vehicle that night and parked it near the location where the shooting occurred. Bailey also admitted that he sold drugs in the area that night. Investigators determined that as Ghosh entered the intersection, gunmen exited Bailey’s vehicle and opened fire. Evidence collected from the scene, including cartridge casings, indicated that three firearms were used during the shooting.
“Every homicide has a devastating impact on the victim's family and undermines public safety in the entire St. Louis community,” said Circuit Attorney Gabe Gore. “This was a challenging investigation that required great detective work to identify the defendant as a participant in the homicide. This prosecution reflects our commitment to leaving no stone unturned in our aggressive prosecution of gun violence.”
Bailey has prior convictions for robbery, assault, unlawful use of a weapon, and distribution of controlled substances. Bailey also received a six-year federal prison sentence in connection with contraband recovered during the execution of a search warrant as part of the homicide investigation. Investigators seized firearms and narcotics from his residence in St. Louis County.
Chief of Homicide Tanja Engelhardt and Assistant Circuit Attorney Nicholas Hirst prosecuted the case.
The defendant’s case number is
2522-CR00984.
