Man Convicted in Fatal Shooting at St. Louis High School Homecoming Party

ST. LOUIS – A man was convicted of several felony charges Thursday in connection with a fatal shooting at a St. Louis high school homecoming party in 2023.


Jurors found Azavian Royal, 21, guilty of second-degree murder, first-degree robbery, two counts of second-degree assault and four counts of armed criminal action in the shooting.


The shooting happened around 3:20 a.m. on Oct. 8, 2023 in the 3500 block of South Compton Avenue, located in St. Louis’ Gravois Park neighborhood.
