Gunman Sentenced to 15 Years for Apartment Complex Shooting
December 9, 2025

ST. LOUIS, MO  (December 09, 2025) — Andre Tyrell Wilson, 37, was sentenced to 15 years in the Missouri Department of Corrections after pleading guilty to two counts of first-degree assault and two counts of armed criminal action.

On February 25, 2024, Wilson opened fire in front of an apartment complex in the 4500 block of Swan Avenue in the City’s Forest Park Southeast neighborhood. Wilson’s gunfire wounded a 26-year-old, who was an innocent bystander.

Police later found a Ford Fusion linked to Wilson with shattered windows and spent casings inside. Surveillance video, DNA evidence, and ballistic testing identified Wilson as the shooter.

Wilson’s gunfire created a chaotic scene. A man who was sitting in his car outside the apartment complex drove off to escape the gunfire. A 22-year-old woman who took cover from the gunfire, crouching at the front of his car, was dragged for a block and a half.

“The defendant opened fire in a residential neighborhood, wounding an innocent bystander and starting a chain of events that led to a young woman being dragged by a car,” said Circuit Attorney Gabe Gore. “This sentence holds the defendant accountable for wounding an innocent bystander and creating the chaos that led to a young woman being dragged by a car.”

Wilson’s criminal history includes a 2020 federal conviction for unlawful possession of a firearm and prior convictions for assault first degree, robbery first degree, armed criminal action, and unlawful use of a weapon.

Assistant Circuit Attorneys Grant Simon, Michael Ware, and Rebecca Hirsch prosecuted the case.

Defendant’s case number: 2522-CR02060.
