August 28, 2023

ST. LOUIS, MO (August 28, 2023) — St. Louis Circuit Attorney Gabe Gore announced today the addition of Christine Bertelson to his senior management team. Bertelson will be the office’s new Public Information Officer (PIO) beginning September 5, 2023.

“Ms. Bertelson brings her skills as a journalist and a wealth of communications and media expertise to this important position,” Gore said. “She will serve this office and the citizens of St. Louis as one of Missouri’s most highly respected communications professionals.”

Bertelson joined the St. Louis Post-Dispatch as a reporter, rising to become a columnist and Editor of the Editorial Page. She later became a Senior Advisor and Chief Speechwriter for former Missouri Governor Jay Nixon. Most recently she was Director of Strategic Communications for the 21st Circuit Court in St. Louis County.

"It is an honor to join the St. Louis Circuit Attorney's high-performance team of professionals dedicated to the uncompromising pursuit of justice and excellence in public service," Bertelson said.

Bertelson served on the 21st Circuit Judicial Commission and the Supreme Court of Missouri's Commission on Racial and Ethnic Fairness. She is the author of a new book, "Puppies for Parole: Rescue, Rehabilitation and Redemption in Missouri's Prisons," concerning the Missouri Department of Corrections' highly successful rehabilitative justice program, which has facilitated the adoption of thousands of unwanted dogs.

Since his appointment by Governor Mike Parson on May 30, Gore has hired 18 experienced prosecutors to further the work of the office and clear the backlog of cases.
