Devarjaye "DJ" Daniel Sworn in as Honorary Investigator at St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office

ST. LOUIS, MO (April 15, 2025) — Devarjaye "DJ" Daniel, a 13-year-old from Houston, Texas, was sworn in as an honorary investigator for the St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office on April 15, 2025, at the Renaissance St. Louis Airport Hotel.


DJ, who has bravely battled brain and spinal cancer since the age of seven, has inspired countless individuals across the nation with his strength, resilience, and dream of becoming a police officer. He was sworn in by over 200 law enforcement agencies at one time on Tuesday. The ceremony marks a major milestone for DJ, who has now been sworn in by more than 1,100 police departments across the country. DJ’s story of resilience has touched the hearts of many, and this event was a testament to his relentless pursuit of his dream.


"DJ’s strength and determination are an inspiration. Despite facing immense challenges, he continues to pursue his dream of becoming a police officer,” said St. Louis Circuit Attorney Gabe Gore. “We are proud to honor him as an honorary investigator and stand with him as he inspires others to persevere and never give up."


During the ceremony, DJ took the Oath of Office and received patches from each participating agency. Afterward, he toured the region, receiving support from the law enforcement community and the St. Louis residents who have rallied behind him.
