Judge Gives 30-Year Sentence to Man Who Sexually Assaulted a Woman in MetroLink Station
December 18, 2024

ST. LOUIS, MO (December 18, 2024) — Dartarius Gibson, 39, was convicted of attempted rape and first-degree sodomy for assaulting a 37-year-old woman waiting for a train at the Convention Center MetroLink Station on April 18, 2023 in Downtown St. Louis.

During the trial, the victim recounted the assault through tears. Gibson made a pretense of asking her for directions, then approached her while exposing himself. He then beat and sexually assaulted her when she tried to get away from him on the train platform.

Gibson waived his right to a jury trial Monday morning, and the case was tried by 22nd Circuit Court Judge Scott A. Millikan. After announcing his guilty verdicts, Judge Millikan sentenced Gibson to 15 years on each count to be served consecutively for a total of 30 years in prison.

“This assault is every woman’s nightmare,” said Circuit Attorney Gabe Gore. “Our team of attorneys and victim advocates did an outstanding job prosecuting the case while providing the strong support the victim needed to give her testimony at trial.”

The case was prosecuted by Assistant Circuit Attorneys Sydney Beecher and Lydia Stewart.

Gibson’s case number is 2322-CR00757-01.
