Jury Finds Man Guilty of Domestic Assault, Kidnapping in Vicious Attack on Former Girlfriend
March 5, 2025

ST. LOUIS, MO (February 6, 2025) — A jury found Eriyan Anontez Smith-Moore, 24, guilty of domestic assault and kidnapping for an attack on his 23-year-old former girlfriend on July 29, 2024, in an apartment in the 4100 block of Olive Street in the Central West End.

The case involved a brutal assault in which Smith-Moore refused to let the victim leave her home, repeatedly strangled her until she fell unconscious, and bit her forehead, drawing blood and leaving a scar that remained visible during trial. After the attack, the victim ran to neighbors’ houses begging for someone to call the police. Several 911 calls were made.

Police arrested Smith-Moore at the scene. He claimed that he had been defending himself although he had no injuries.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant Circuit Attorneys Sydney Beecher and Lydia Stewart.

“This was a vicious attack on a vulnerable woman who suffered life-threatening domestic abuse,” said Circuit Attorney Gabe Gore. “The jury’s verdict sends a clear message that domestic violence will not be tolerated, making our victim and our city safer.”

Smith-Moore’s case number is 2422-CR0288-01.
