May 15, 2025

ST. LOUIS, MO (May 15, 2025) — Charles Anderson, 66, was found guilty by a jury on Thursday of two counts of first-degree murder, one count of first-degree assault, one count of unlawful possession of a firearm, and three counts of armed criminal action in connection to a 2021 shooting that killed two people and injured another in the 2900 block of Kossuth Avenue in the City’s Fairground neighborhood.

On September 17, 2021, Anderson entered a vacant residence and opened fire on three women. Jamie Willard, 30, and Patrice Wimbley, 31, died from gunshot wounds to the head and neck. Another victim was shot in both legs and survived by pretending to be dead. The victim later identified Anderson as the shooter. Evidence presented at trial included eyewitness testimony, ballistic evidence, phone records, and texts confirming a prior relationship between Anderson and Wimbley.

Anderson was arrested two weeks later. He has prior felony convictions. Anderson’s sentencing is scheduled for June 27, 2025.

The case was prosecuted by Special Assistant Circuit Attorneys Matthew Martin and Nicholas Lake, both of whom are Assistant U.S. Attorneys in the Office of U.S. Attorney Sayler A. Fleming.

“This was a calculated and cold-blooded act of violence,” said Circuit Attorney Gabe Gore. “We will always pursue justice for victims and hold violent offenders accountable for the harm they cause in our communities.”

The defendant’s case number is 2122-CR01533-01.
