September 18, 2024

ST. LOUIS, MO (September 17, 2024) — Marcus Keith Taylor, 40, was sentenced to 16 years in the Missouri Department of Corrections for shooting and seriously injuring his domestic partner, shooting at police, and resisting arrest on July 29, 2023 in the 3600 block of Bates Street in the city’s Holly Hills neighborhood.

Taylor shot and seriously wounded his domestic partner during a dispute. He also shot at one of the responding police officers who was trying to arrest him. Taylor pleaded guilty in July to all the offenses; his plea was not made pursuant to a plea agreement.

Judge Bryan L. Hettenbach sentenced Taylor to 13 years in prison for the domestic and first-degree assaults; three years each on two counts of armed criminal action to run concurrent to each other and consecutively to the 13 years, plus four years for resisting arrest to run concurrently with the other sentences.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant Circuit Attorney and Special Victim Unit Supervisor Jeremy Crowley and Assistant Circuit Attorney Carley Johansson.
