Man Sentenced to 17 Years for Fatal Shooting In Marine Villa Neighborhood
October 14, 2025

ST. LOUIS, MO  (October 14, 2025) —   Joshua Conley, 23, was sentenced Tuesday to 17 years in the Missouri Department of Corrections for the 2023 fatal shooting of 23-year-old Quentin Berry in the City’s Marine Villa neighborhood.

Conley pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and armed criminal action for the September 22, 2023, shooting in the 2200 block of Keokuk Street.

Police responded to a 911 call and found Berry suffering from gunshot wounds. He later died from his injuries. Officers collected three 9mm shell casings at the scene and reviewed surveillance video showing a man in a yellow sweatshirt exiting the passenger side of a Saturn Vue before shots were fired. The same man ran back to the vehicle immediately after the shooting.

Two days later, officers located the Saturn Vue, which had tinted windows and a missing front bumper and grill. After a pursuit, Conley and the driver fled from the vehicle on Jefferson Avenue. Officers arrested Conley and recovered a 9mm semiautomatic pistol from a backpack he discarded while running.

“This case shows how a single decision to pick up a firearm and escalate a dispute can end a life and alter countless others. Our office remains committed to holding violent offenders accountable and seeking justice for victims like Quentin Berry,” said Circuit Attorney Gabe Gore.

Assistant Circuit Attorney Bret Rich prosecuted the case.

The defendant’s case number is 2322-CR02275-01.
