ST. LOUIS, MO (June 27, 2025) — Charles Anderson, 66, was sentenced Friday to two life sentences without parole plus 127 additional years to run consecutively for a deadly 2021 shooting that left two women dead and a third seriously injured in the City’s Fairground neighborhood.
On September 17, 2021, Anderson entered a vacant home in the 2900 block of Kossuth Avenue and opened fire on three women. Jamie Willard, 30, and Patrice Wimbley, 31, were shot in the head and neck and died at the scene. A third woman was shot in both legs and survived by playing dead. She later identified Anderson as the shooter.
In May, a jury found Anderson guilty of two counts of first-degree murder, one count of first-degree assault, three counts of armed criminal action, and one count of unlawful possession of a firearm. He received life without parole on both murder charges, 30 years for the assault, 30 years for each of the armed criminal action charges, and seven years for unlawful possession of a firearm.
Evidence at trial included eyewitness testimony, ballistic analysis, phone records, and text messages linking Anderson to one of the victims. He was arrested two weeks after the shooting and has prior felony convictions.
“Charles Anderson made a deliberate choice to carry out a brutal attack that devastated three families,” said Circuit Attorney Gabe Gore. “Today’s sentence reflects the seriousness of that crime and sends a clear message: if you commit senseless violence in our city, you will be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law.”
The case was prosecuted by Special Assistant Circuit Attorneys Matthew Martin and Nicholas Lake, both Assistant U.S. Attorneys in the Office of Acting U.S. Attorney Matthew T. Drake.
The defendant’s case number is 2122-CR01533-01.
