St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office Launches Citizens Academy
August 25, 2025

ST. LOUIS, MO  (August 25, 2025) — The St. Louis Circuit Attorney's Office (CAO) is now accepting applications for the first class of the Citizens Academy, a six-week educational program that gives the public a behind-the-scenes look at how justice is pursued in St. Louis courts. Classes will begin on Thursday, October 9, 2025, and the CAO will be accepting applications until September 15, 2025.

Through interactive seminars, site visits, and discussions with prosecutors and staff, participants will learn how cases move through the criminal justice system, from investigation to trial to sentencing. Sessions will also include visits to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department's Real Time Crime Center, courtrooms, and other partner agencies.

“The Citizens Academy allows us to open our doors and build stronger connections with the people we serve,” said Circuit Attorney Gabe Gore. “It's an opportunity for residents to see how our office works, our decision-making process, and the standards we uphold, while also giving us the chance to hear directly from the community.”

Program Details:

  • Dates: October 9 – November 13, 2025
  • Schedule: Thursdays, 5:00–7:00 PM
  • Location: Circuit Attorney's Office, with site visits to courts and partner agencies
  • Eligibility: Greater St. Louis area residents 18 and older
  • Cost: Free
  • Application Deadline: September 15, 2025

The Citizens Academy is designed for a broad audience, including community leaders, students, early-career professionals, and residents who want a deeper understanding of the criminal justice system.
