Woman Sentenced to Ten Years for Abetting Shooting of Police Officer
February 3, 2025

ST. LOUIS, MO (February 3, 2025) — Breonna C. White, 26, was sentenced to two concurrent 10-year prison terms for her role in abetting the shooting of St. Louis Metropolitan Police Officer Erich VonNida on September 13, 2020, in the Wells-Goodfellow neighborhood.

The shooting occurred after Officer VonNida and Officer Cameron Jackson tried to stop a Chevrolet Impala driven by White on North Broadway Downtown. When the Impala fled the stop, police spiked its tires. The pursuit continued into North St. Louis where the vehicle turned onto East Prairie Avenue and the shooting occurred.

Officer VonNida was hit once in the shoulder. The Impala was found abandoned later that evening near West Florissant and Alice avenues. DNA from the Impala’s steering wheel tied White to the vehicle. She pleaded guilty last week to driving the Impala and to first degree assault for her role in the shooting.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant Circuit Attorney Adam Field.

White is also facing murder charges. White and 23-year-old Khalil Hughes have been charged with two counts of first-degree murder and two counts of armed criminal action in the deaths of Derrick Hudson, 22, and Jacqueline Griffin, 26, on Sept. 22, 2019, in the 5800 block of Maffit Avenue in the Wells-Goodfellow neighborhood.

“SLMPD officers put themselves at risk every day to make our city safer by removing violent felons like Breonna White from the streets,” said Circuit Attorney Gabe Gore. “We are grateful to Officer VonNida for his personal sacrifice in the line of duty, and wish him a swift recovery from his injury.”

White’s case number is 2422-CR02950-01.
